Stampede Style Inspo

Giddy up cowgirl! It’s the beginning of July, and you know what that means… the Calgary Stampede is here! For 10 days, the city of Calgary is over taken with cowboys, parties, midway games and rides, western fashion and for all you foodies, there are miles and miles of food trucks. Literally, the whole city stops working to “stampede”. If you haven’t made it to The Stampede before, I would be putting this on your bucket list.

I have pieced together a few Stampede inspired looks to share with you.

Tried, tested and true. You can never go wrong with some Levi’s paired with snake print. The only downfall to this look is the body suit. Mix in a few cocktails and it’s complete mayhem in the bathroom. Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. This Levi’s denim jacket is one of my favs. I love the style and the baggier fit. I also found that cute little Blue Jean Baby patch at the Levi’s store. They have so many patches to choose from. It’s a great way to set your jacket apart from all the other denim jackets out there. And it’s an easy iron on, no sewing needed! I bought these Levi jeans from the Bay a few years ago and they were extremely long on my short frame. So I cut the bottoms and left the raw hem. The more I wash them, the more tattered they become and the more I love them. I wore them to a High Valley concert a few years ago and I got the boys to sign my jeans. These jeans have some serious country music cred! My hat is one of my favourites as well. I purchased this one from Vici Collection – the hats on their site have a great price point, but they sell out quick! So act fast if you see one you like. I picked up these shoes from Nordstrom Rack in Edmonton a month ago. I wore them down in Nashville and they were so comfy. Definitely a good heel choice if you plan on putting on some miles.

Classic black, white and grey! I am obsessed with this look. I chose to pair the lighter feminine top with some black jeans to add some depth to the look. I got this polka dot blouse from Juxta Brixton in Lloydminster. My jeans are Citizens from Aritzia. Again the length is a little long on me, so with these ones I usually opt for a tiny rolled cuff. The white shoes (this seasons must have) are from Nordstrom Rack. My grey felt hat is one of my oldest hats and holds a special place in my heart. I got this one from Aritzia quite a few years ago. The quality is amazing and they always have cute new styles to pick from every year.

I went with a vintage T-shirt and some denim cut-offs for more of a casual look. I got the t-shirt on sale at American Eagle. These One Teaspoon shorts are hands down the greatest shorts ever. I have a little junk in the trunk and the cut of these shorts is ideal for this. With the longer hem in the back, you don’t have to be worried about showing off too much skin. I call them my “Mom” shorts. I found this belt bag at Ardenes and all it’s missing is the golden GG. Who would have thought fanny packs would make a comeback?! I remember being so embarrassed when my parents would wear them on holidays with their neon bike shorts. Oh wait … maybe they were onto something ?! These studded Sol Sana sandals are from Juxta Brixton last year. They are on sale for $55 online right now and I was just in Juxta Brixton today and saw a very similar pair. It took some serious self control to not buy them. My sunnies are Ray Ban and they are such a classic style that you can wear them with anything.

This look is all about being easy breezy. Next to animal print and hats, polka dots take up quite the amount of real estate in my closet. This mustard yellow color is so fun to wear and it looks amazing on anyone. And as an added bonus, this color will carry into your fall wardrobe perfectly. This blouse is from American Eagle. These shorts from Simons are also a great fit if you aren’t into showing a little cheek. My woven purse is from The Bay and it holds so much stuff! I chose to use my brown leather Steve Madden sandals to tie into the color of the leather strap on my purse and keep with the gold and brown tones. If you didn’t already know, Quay Australia makes some of the most stylish sunnies and these ones are only $90! I got these ones at Simons a few weeks ago and they have been in full rotation with my Ray Bans.

Isn’t she pretty?! Say hello to the newest addition to my hat collection. This Lack of Colours hat is from Juxta Brixton (clearly one of my favourite boutiques). I love the heather grey paired with the brown leather band. Their hats come in 3 different sizes, so make sure to measure before you order. The denim tank has the cutest little peekaboo cut out in the back. And of course, the raw hem is making an appearance. I purchased this tank at Winners a few weeks ago. The denim shorts are Levi’s and the snake print sandals are from Nordstrom Rack. This look is so simple and I love it. I would probably throw on a little bandana around my neck to county this look up a little bit.

Even if you aren’t planning on attending the stampede this year, I hope these looks will inspire you.

Cheers Babes!
